The spacing of the plants will depend on what kind of oregano you have planted. It is fun to experiment with different methods of growing the herb.

When growing oregano, you should know that the herb will thrive in an alkaline soil, whether it is in a garden or in pots. The soil must be made suitable for growing oregano. Growing oregano outdoors can also be fun. As long as the soil can retain water, you may need to water it. They should be exposed to excess sunlight or the soil may dry up. If you are going to plant the oregano outdoors, provide a fence to protect them from slugs. If you are going to grow it in pots, make sure they are large enough to accommodate the entire Oregano plant.

When choosing the type of oregano for your garden, decide whether you want the rolled type or the sprig type. The sprig type is easier to cut and to stick in your cooking. Rolled oregano is just as easy to cut and will stick better in your dishes.

Now that you have oregano, how do you keep it growing? Growing oregano requires three things: water, fertilizer, and pruning. Here are tips to remember when growing oregano.

– Water is essential. Water is oregano’s means of living. It is where you will get your oregano. Make sure the area you choose to grow it in has the essential nutrients needed by the herb.

– There are two kinds of fertilizers. There is organic and inorganic. Organic fertilizers are made to be digested by bacteria in the soil. The inorganic are fashioned to be absorbed by the plants.

– Water is necessary almost always in growing oregano. Water will keep the herb healthy. Too much or too little water may cause the herb to wilt and die.

– When harvesting oregano, make sure you don’t take the leaves right down to the ground. Leave some oregano above the ground so the plants can continue to grow.
